Overview

Women Entrepreneurs NYC (WE NYC), an initiative of NYC SBS, is the first program of its kind in the U.S. dedicated to helping women start and grow their businesses. As a counterpart to in-person classes and sessions, the WE NYC online portal connects these key economic actors with research-based programs, innovative tools, and inclusive services, to help them thrive.

Through research, testing, and intensive feedback sessions with real women business owners, our product team designed and launched the WE NYC portal in 2016 and continued to support its growth as it evolved. Since the program's launch, NYC has been named the Best City in the World for Women Entrepreneurs by Fortune, and still today WE NYC continues to spearhead new initiatives aimed at empowering women and closing the small-business gender gap, and serves as a model for economic development initiatives across the country.
