Prevention Tools for Family Support Services

Overview

The Pathways to Prevention project was a collaboration between over half a dozen NYC Service providers, who came together to explore how families connect with and experience publicly-funded mental health and family support services in NYC. The goal of the project was to bring the voices of families and front-line staff into the process of establishing the next generation of prevention services, for NYC’s Administration for Children’s Services (ACS).

Informed by the important research gathered by the Pathways team, our product team architected, designed, and prototyped a tablet-based field tool to be used by families and ACS intake providers. The app aimed to improve trust and coordination, and to provide a more dignified and empowering experience for families navigating their service journey. This exploratory prototype ultimately served as a foundation for some of ACS’s longer-term service delivery and operational tool initiatives.
